Analyst firm Frost and Sullivan recently held an analyst briefing titled:  African Growth Series – Africa’s East and West Growth Frontiers.

The briefing covers Nigeria and Kenya…”As the new gateways to emerging markets within their respective regions, these two counties possess numerous domestic market opportunities across various industries. Given their prospects, what are the core opportunities that exist within these two unique markets?”

The briefing discusses the longer-term growth opportunities and predictions for Kenya and Nigeria; highlights some of the greatest challenges to operating in specific industries there and identifies principles and solutions to achieve successful and sustainable growth.

It’s well worth a listen. You have to register on BrightTalk first though to see the ppt and hear the analysts:   http://www.frost.com/prod/servlet/analyst-briefing-detail.pag?mode=open&sid=275195139

Informa’s latest report on African telco scene

informa logoSo over the Christmas period I had a chance to read the latest thoughts from Informa’s team of analysts titled “Africa Telecoms Outlook 2013: Seizing new revenue opportunities”.

Some very interesting points about the maturing of the market and what low-cost devices will mean for the market.  I’d recommend it even at £495 for a single use.

And whilst on the subject of low-cost phones I thought this piece was both interesting and depressing…  “Mobile Phones Souring Africa’s Image of China.  Legitimate as well as dodgy businesses have flooded East Africa with millions of low-cost handhelds, for good and bad”
